Winnipeg School Division Collective Agreement 2019

For the purposes of the salary plan, unless otherwise affected by this agreement, teachers are ranked according to the classification and years of work experience that are allocated to the Manitoba Education teacher (based on Manitoba Regulation 515/88) and included in the compensation plan. A teacher is entitled to a continuous meal between 11:00 .m and 14:00 hours.m each school day. This meal time corresponds to the lunch break given up to 60 minutes to students at the school where the teacher is employed. The agreement is a legally binding employment contract concluded through collective bargaining with the employer and the union. Any teacher employed by the department with a fixed-term teaching contract (former form contract 2A) for two (2) consecutive full years of study becomes a general teacher contract for a third consecutive year and has a retroactive right to seniority and unutilized sick leave. The intent and purpose of the parties to this agreement (hereafter referred to as this agreement) is to promote and enhance the working relationship between the La Transcona River East School Division and the River East Transcona Teachers` Association of the Manitoba Teachers` Society, Establish an acceptable compensation plan and other terms of engagement arising from the implementation of the agreement and create a basis for both parties to improve professional and academic services for schoolchildren and citizens of the East Transcona River Transcona School Division. In schools where there is no assistant principal, the indicated annual allowance can be evenly distributed among teachers designated at the school. If, despite the above, the department expects the teacher to be employed for the third consecutive year for a period of less than three (3) months, the department may employ that teacher with a temporary teacher – general contract. Number of staff: the total number of employees in a school as of September 30 of the current year, where each teacher, secretary, paraprofessional, library technician/secretary and supervisor who works 50% or more in a school, is equal to a school and those who work less than 50% in a school are equal to 0.5%. In each school in the department, a teacher is appointed by the superintendent, in agreement with the principal, to be responsible for the school in the absence of the principal and assistant principal.
